Comment on "Don't call me Laowai: Pursuing happiness in Beijing" (China Daily website, July 21)

I once knew a British man, who used to teach in our university. He was pretty gentle and modest. Though his Chinese was poor, he always tried his best to learn. I think he enjoyed his life in China but felt unhappy at being treated as an outsider.

Since it is difficult for anyone to live in a foreign country, Chinese people should treat foreigners as friends and try to help them. Imagine how much you would appreciate to helping hand in a foreign country. So let us not hesitate to help foreigners and be friendly with them.
