Netizen named first25 gives suggestions to China from a foreigner's perspective in his comment on "How to improve China's image" (April 23, China Daily):
Some of my suggestions for improving the image of China, a country which I think is generally great.
1. Accept and allow robust criticism in the media of the actions of government.
2. Take serious measures to expose corruption.
3. Enforce Intellectual Property laws in a meaningful way.
4. Do away with the Hukou system.
5. Impose stiff penalties for spitting, littering and smoking in restaurants.
6. Enforce taxation laws properly.
7. Establish transparent government reporting available to the public.
8. Sell train tickets more than 10 days in advance and sell return train tickets.
9. Make China an easier place to visit by improving the service at Chinese consulates overseas.
10. Give police the courage and genuine power to arrest and penalize drivers of black Audis when they break the road laws.
11. Start producing quality products.
