NANCHANG -- The Olympic torch relay in central China's Jiangxi Province will kick off Wednesday in the cities of Ruijin, Jinggangshan and Nanchang, provincial government officials said Monday at a press conference.

A total of 624 torchbearers will run the route during the 3-day relay, of which 377 are Jiangxi local residents.

Ruijin, the first stop in Jiangxi, is known as the cradle of the People's Republic of China and the starting point of the famous Long March of the Red Army.

The torch relay in Jinggangshan will start from the historic site of Huangyangjie, and pass through Jinggangshan Revolutionary Mesuem, which preserves precious relics used by Chairmen Mao during his sojourn there.

The last leg in Jiangxi Province is in the capital city of Nanchang, where the torch will pass through the first University during the tour, Nanchang University.

After the tour in Jiangxi, the Olympic torch will carry on its journey in Wenzhou, the first stop of Zhejiang Province on Saturday.
