Urumqi Free Trade Zone nears completion

The construction of Urumqi's free trade zone (FTZ) is nearing full completion it was announced on July 7, coinciding with a raft of investment campaigns aimed at attracting enterprises to the area.

The FTZ is located in the Sanping area of the city, and has close transport links to Urumqi’s railway container terminal,the Urumqi-Kuitun expressway and international airport.

The area enjoys preferential policies from the local government and so far specializes in logistics, processing, foreign trade, international procurement, product exhibition and sales, international transfers and finance.

Construction began on the FTZ in 2015, and is expected to have its full inauguration and national acceptance later this month.

In the meantime,promotion campaigns are being launched at key cities both domestically and abroad to attract enterprises. At present, some 30 businesses have showed interest in the FTZ, who are involved in industries such as export processing, cross-border electricity, warehousing logistics and cross-border finance.
