Toutunhe district to welcome 60th anniversary of Xinjiang

Urumqi's Toutunhe district, in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region set up dozens of sculptures made of flowers, red lanterns and Chinese knots recently to welcome the region's 60th anniversary.

The 29 sculptures composed of 760,000 potted flowers and 581 potted plants were put around Toutunhe district, according to Wang Yongqiang, who works for the district's forest landscape administration.

Wang said that the administration has spent more than 6 million yuan ($940,000) in sculptures and designs. The sculptures have attracted many residents to take photos.

Around 1,500 pairs of red lanterns and Chinese knots hanging in the district provide the festive atmosphere, and after shooting red lanterns one resident called Zhang Jianhai said, " I wish Xinjiang to have a bright future and for society to get better and better."
