The Xinjiang Vital Development and Construction (Group) Co. in Urumqi, Xinjiang provides rooms for married migrant workers to improve their living conditions.

Cai Wanqing and his wife Liu Shuzhen, both construction workers from Anhui province, just received the key to their six square meter "couple room"— and said the company helped them realize their dreams.

Like Cai, many migrant workers leave their hometowns to work in construction in Xinjiang. Married migrant workers have to live separately in dormitories because they can't afford the rent. The "couple room" helped many solve their problems.

Xinjiang Vital Development and Construction (Group) Co. also offers accommodation for relatives who come to visit the workers.

With an increasing number of migrant workers, Xinjiang enterprises and government seek to protect the rights of the workers and offer better working conditions.

The government of Xinjiang is working on a home leave system for the migrant workers and asking enterprises to protect workers' rights in strict accordance with the Labor Law.
