The State High-tech Industry Zone in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, held a meeting to mark the founding of the Internet Plus Industrial Alliance on June 8.

Internet Plus is an initiative that was put forward by Premier Li Keqiang in March and involves the integration of the Internet with traditional industries.

The alliance was designed to increase cooperation between industries by fully utilizing the Internet. Aside from enterprises in the zone, other enterprises from all over China were also welcome to enroll in the alliance.

At the founding meeting, Zhu Li, vice director of the region’s Economic and Information Commission, encouraged the State High-tech Industry Zone to provide a better environment for enterprises and push forward the integration of the Internet and traditional industries. Zhu also said that the Internet Plus initiative provided a practical way to speed up the transformation of economic development and the upgrading of industrial structure.

As a national level high-tech industrial zone in Northwest China, the Urumqi State High-tech Industry Zone has rich resources in the technology and information industries. It has more than 540 enterprises engaging in the electronic information industry and 120 in e-commerce business.
