An exhibition of revolutionary literature is currently being staged at the Liaoning Provincial Library in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, according to local reports.
Hosted by the Liaoning Provincial Cultural Performing Arts Group and organized by the library, the exhibition marks the 99th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on July 1, according to the organizers.
They said that a large number of pictures and literature are currently on display, showcasing the revolutionary history of Liaoning province -- from the establishment of the CPC Manchuria Provincial Committee, to the province's development into a cradle of industry and on to its achievements in alleviating poverty.
Among the exhibits, various versions of The Communist Manifesto have attracted the great interest and attention of many visitors.
Yao Jie, deputy director of the library, said the first Chinese translation version of The Communist Manifesto by German philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels was published in 1920 and when the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949, a total of six Chinese translations were published, with an improvement in the quality of the translation.
More than 20 versions of The Communist Manifesto are at the Liaoning Provincial Library, ranging from those published from 1946 to 2019 in languages including Chinese, German, English and Russian.
A total of 19 precious editions are currently on display at the exhibition, according to the library director.
