Shenyang economic zone welcomes summer tourists

The Shenyang economic zone -- a regional development area launched by the provincial government in Northeast China's Liaoning province -- consists of five cities in the province: Shenyang, Anshan, Fushun, Benxi and Liaoyang.

Supported by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and jointly launched by culture, tourism, radio and television departments of the five cities, the economic zone kicked off its summer tourism activities on June 17, which will run until August.

Officials said the activities are designed to promote development of the tourism sector in the zone, drive the growth of its tourism companies and accelerate the revitalization of the culture and tourism industry.

With a focus on avoiding the summer heat, the activities are mainly being promoted online. They include the top 25 ideal summer tourism spots in the economic zone, a five days and six nights' tour in the zone tailored for families, as well as travel by recreational vehicles.

The activities will be promoted on media platforms by online celebrities and preferential tourism activities will be promoted on outdoor LED screens in cities and at highway entrances and exits, according to officials.
