The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently announced a list of pilot units for the functional integration of cultural and tourism public service institutions. A total of five units in Northeast China's Liaoning province made the list, of which Heping district library was the only one unit in Shenyang, Liaoning's capital.

Established in 1959, Heping district library was rated as a national first-class library in 1998 and it belongs to the Heping district culture, tourism and sports development center.

Located at No 66 Bajing Street, the library has eight 24-hour self-help libraries, 13 street branch libraries and 91 community bookstores. It also has mobile bookstores including in the Sanhao Street maker space and in the government services center.

As a main participant in the joint development and sharing of public culture and art in the Heping district, the library has established long-term partnerships.

It has formed these relations with Shenyang Jiuwu Cultural City, the Shenyang Cultural Palace, art galleries and museums in the district, the city's intangible cultural heritage protection association, its poetry academy and other organizations -- holding more than 100 public welfare lectures, exhibitions and performances every year.

Lyu Yang, director of the Heping district culture, tourism and sports development center, said that after being selected as a pilot unit, the library has big plans.

It will continue to strengthen the joint development and sharing of tourism public service facilities in the district and work with the scenic spots in the district to promote the development of the cultural and tourism public services.
