The Shenyang economic zone, which consists of five cities in Northeast China’s Liaoning province -- Shenyang, Anshan, Fushun, Benxi, and Liaoyang -- is welcoming tourists from all over the province during the May Day holiday, which runs from May 1 to 5 this year, according to officials.

The five cities have launched a series of spring cultural and tourism activities to attract visitors.

One of them, being hosted by the Liaoning provincial capital, is a tulip festival at Shenyang Expo Garden. Shenyang has also launched online visits to the Shenyang Palace Museum, a kite festival, a spring short video and photography contest, as well as recommended spring cycling routes and self-drive routes.

The city of Anshan, meanwhile, has launched tourism routes and products featuring mountain climbing, pear blossoms and healthcare, among other things.

Fushun and Benxi cities also launched tourism activities themed around spring outings and appreciating flowers.

Liaoyang city launched tourism routes featuring history, natural landscapes, fruit picking, appreciation of flowers, sports, and family trips. Scenic spots in the city also offer free entrance for medical workers.

Due to the novel coronavirus epidemic, the cities’ tourism departments have reminded all visitors to take epidemic prevention and control measures and follow the guidance of staff members at the tourist and scenic spots, to have fun while ensuring their safety.
