Hunnan district in Shenyang -- the capital city of Northeast China’s Liaoning province -- kicked off its spring tourism season on April 3, offering a whole host of exciting and interesting activities, according to local officials.
Here are some recommended places to go for visitors to Hunnan district:
Enjoy apricot blossoms in Tongjiayu

Tongjiayu is a village famous for its apricot blossoms, with apricot trees covering more than 66 hectares. Some trees are more than 50 years old and even over 80 years old. Each April, many visitors come here to enjoy the wonderful apricot blossoms.
Enjoy flowers at Shenyang Expo Garden

Shenyang Expo Garden will host many large-scale flower exhibitions in April and May, including a rhododendron exhibition, tulip exhibition, peony exhibition, and more. Visitors can also view magnolias, cherry blossoms, pear blossoms and apricot blossoms at the garden.
Ticket prices: 50 yuan ($7.09)/person; half price tickets: 25 yuan/person.
Entrance: No 4 and No 6 gates are temporarily not open, so visitors should enter from No 1 gate.
See animals at Shenyang Forest Zoological Garden
The Shenyang Forest Zoological Garden reopened to visitors on March 26. Visitors can have a wild time, viewing the animals in spring.
Opening hours: 8:30-17:00 hrs
Tickets sales: 8:30-16:00 hrs
Opening hours of giant panda house: 9:00-16:00 hrs
In addition, hiking in Qipan Mountain, digging wild vegetables, visiting the Guandong (Northeast China) Movie and TV Town, watching birds on Bird Island and kicking a ball at the football park are also recommended for visitors.
