A train carrying 10,000 sets of medical materials departed Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province on Feb 14, and headed for Wuhan in Central China’s Hubei province -- the epicenter of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak in China, according to local officials.
The medical materials were from the Beijing United Foundation, which donated its third batch of supplies for Wuhan.
According to Lin Feng, president of the foundation, the materials were destined for doctors in Wuhan and they will greatly ease the medical supply shortage there.
To ensure rapid transport of the materials, Shenyang freight center and China Railway Shenyang Group opened fast track channels to give them top priority.
Rail officials said they planned things in detail and well in advance, to greatly increase the transport efficiency.
