Expats in Shenyang celebrate Spring Festival

Teachers from the Canadian International School of Shenyang held celebration activities recently, to welcome the upcoming Spring Festival which falls on Jan 25 this year, according to the organizers.

Chinese New Year is the most important traditional festival in the country, during which people enjoy family reunions.

During the event, Chinese teachers explained many traditions about the Spring Festival to foreign teachers.

The executive director and the president of the school delivered New Year’s greetings to attendees and gave a briefing on the school’s achievements in 2019, as well as their hopes for 2020.

Participants also staged cultural performances at the event, to celebrate the festival. Foreign teachers also performed yanko –– a popular folk dance in Northeast China, thrilling attendees.

Foreign teachers also wrote Spring Festival couplets and made dumplings, under the guidance of Chinese staff members, to experience Chinese folk customs.
