The main eastern venue for winter tourism of the 2019-2020 Shenyang international cultural tourism festival, as well as the Shengjing ice and snow world, opened at Qipan Mountain in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Jan 7.

Dignitaries including Zhang Lei, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee and Jiang Youwei, mayor of Shenyang, attended the opening ceremony.

The 2019-2020 Shenyang winter tourism festival is offering over 120 activities for visitors, with its themes “happy life, beautiful Shenyang” and “enjoy all sceneries of Northeast China in Shenyang”, aiming to attract more people to participate in winter sports and activities.

Organizers said the Shengjing ice and snow world boasts the largest-scale ice and snow sculpture and ice lantern exhibition area in Shenyang and is succeeding in attracting a lot of attention from Shenyang locals and visitors.

A total of 122 ice sculptures and 43 snow sculptures are showcasing 400 years of the history of Shenyang city, including bell towers, drum towers and ancient city gates.

The largest ice sculpture -- depicting Dazheng Palace -- has a diameter of 22 meters and a height of 12 m, according to officials.

An ice and snow fun games area has also been provided at the venue, offering winter fun to children and parents.

Buses: No 168 and 384

Opening hours: 9:00-21:00

Tickets: 98 yuan ($14.11) per person; people who are under 1 meter or 70 years old and over are offered free entrance; military personnel, students, the disabled, and elder people between 60-70 are offered half price tickets.
