Lantern fair to illuminate Shenbei New Zone

Lanterns of various shapes and sizes will illuminate Shenbei New Zone’s Qixing Park on Dec 29, creating a colorful spectacle and a joyful mood for the approaching New Year.

This year's lantern show, as part of the Shenyang International Culture and Tourism Festival, has as its theme Dazzling Shengjing and Happy Shenbei. Organizers said it aims to boost the local winter tourism market.

The display will feature around 40 groups of large lanterns illuminated by colorful lights and 20 groups of large-scale snow sculptures.

In addition, tourists will also have the chance to indulge in a wide range of local snacks that will be available during the lantern fair.

The event runs about two months, until Feb 23.
