An international seminar on the culture of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) was held in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province on Dec 14-15, according to the organizers.

It was hosted by the Liaoning Cultural Performing Arts Group and organized by the Liaoning Provincial Museum.

More than 40 experts and scholars attended the meeting, discussing the aesthetic characteristics of paintings and calligraphy of the Tang Dynasty and their values.

They came from Peking University, Tsinghua University, the Chinese National Academy of Arts, the Palace Museum, Shanghai Museum, Chungnam National University in South Korea and other cultural institutions.

Organizers said that the seminar was a part of the ongoing exhibition “Meet the Tang Dynasty Again”, which opened at Liaoning Provincial Museum on Oct 7 and runs to Jan 5, 2020.

A total of 100 cultural relics from the Tang Dynasty –– such as paintings, calligraphy, gold ware and Tang tri-color glazed ceramics –– are on display, including 38 national first grade cultural relics.

“Meet the Tang Dynasty Again” has been selected as a superlative exhibition by the National Cultural Heritage Administration for its promotion of traditional Chinese culture, officials said.
