It was hosted by the publicity department of the CPC Shenyang municipal committee and the Shenyang culture, tourism, radio, and television bureau -- and organized by the Shenyang public culture service center and Shenyang Korean culture art gallery.
Arts troupes and cultural volunteers from districts and counties in the city participated in the event, staging performances such as Korean dances, ballets, Peking operas vocal concerts.
Organizers said that a ballet performance My Motherland was staged in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and all the 24 performers were city residents, with an average age of 60.
“The culture and art festival has enriched my life after retirement and Shenyang boasts an excellent atmosphere now,” said one festival spectator, Wang Xinqi.
Organizers said that the Shenyang community culture and arts festival has been held for six seasons and this year the festival was themed around celebrations for the New China’s 70th anniversary.
