The cultural sector in Dadong district of Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, experienced a boost this year, according to local officials speaking at a news conference on Dec 11.
In the current year the district received 4.26 million visitors, marking year-on-year growth of 21 percent. The major cultural and tourism companies had a combined total operating revenue of 2.01 billion yuan ($285.9 million), soaring 142.1 percent from the previous year.
According to the conference, the district is renovating and sorting out 21 cultural relics, 38 historical buildings, 50 time-honored brands and nine old cultural sites.
Officials said the district launched seven cultural and tourism sites in 2019 -- namely an alley, a factory, and five mansions.
The alley concerned is the Tangzimiao Alley historic and cultural block, covering an area nearly 20,000 square meters, whose long history stretches back to the early period of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Elsewhere, the factory concerned is Daheng iron factory, which officials said displays the national industry culture in Dadong district.
The five mansions are those of Yang Yuting, Zhao Erxun, Sun Liechen, Wang Mingyu, and Chang Yinhuai. Officials said technology company Tencent will cooperate with the Chang Yinhuai mansion to build a smart culture and tourism promotional center and an innovation base.
