An exhibition of wonderful Horqin prints opened at the Shenhe cultural center in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Dec 4, according to local officials.

The event was hosted by the Tongliao culture, tourism, radio and television bureau, the Shenyang mass art center and the culture, tourism and sports development center of Shenhe district.

Horqin prints originated in Tongliao city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region in 1950s and have become a cultural symbol of the Horqin Grassland.

The exhibition displays 60 prints which portray grasslands, deserts, sky and clouds, as well as sheep and cattle. And among the prints, 10 are created by children.

Organizers said that the exhibition aims to display Tongliao’s development over recent years in the cultural sector and to promote traditional Chinese culture in Shenyang to more people.

Wang Juan, director of the Shenyang mass art center, said that Horqin prints were a key part of Horqin culture.

Wang added that the exhibition is enriching Shenyang local’s lives and would help strengthen friendship and cultural and art exchanges between the two places.

The exhibition runs to Dec 16.
