A painting exhibition opened at the Liaoning Provincial Museum in Shenyang in Liaoning province on Dec 5, displaying artworks from Zheng Yuebo (1908-1991), who was a leading overseas Chinese artist.
Zheng’s artworks were highly praised by Zhang Daqian (1899-1983), one of the best-known Chinese artists of the 20th century, who was a master in landscape painting and traditional Chinese painting.
The exhibition displays a total of 152 paintings in four sections -- namely works jointly created by Zheng and other artists, Zheng’s ink and wash paintings, Zheng’s finger paintings and Zheng’s elaborate-styled paintings -- showcasing his artistic life.
During the opening ceremony, Zheng’s family donated 12 paintings to the museum, portraying 12 Chinese zodiac signs.
Jointly hosted by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Liaoning Cultural Performing Arts Group, the exhibition is part of the province’s exhibitions of overseas Chinese artists and will run to Feb 9.
