Located in Tiexi district in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, Hongmei Cultural and Creative Park opened to public on Sept 30 this year.

The park was built on the former Hongmei gourmet powder factory, which was established in 1939 and was a representative light industry enterprise in Shenyang city.

Now after reconstruction, the park boasts a market for cultural and creative products, an art gallery, the Shenyang Palace Museum cultural and creative products experience hall, a book house, design studios, food streets and more.

Some of the equipment from the previous Hongmei gourmet powder factory has been retained at the park.

In October, an art exhibition opened there and all the exhibits are the work of Li Xiangqun, who is renowned in China’s contemporary sculpture scene. It is the first time that Li has exhibited his art in Northeast China, allowing him to show off some of his best work from the past 15 years.

Li said that the park represents a memory of past industry in Shenyang, while also giving birth to new culture.

The park aims to be the most professional cultural and art industry base in Northeast China, as well as a new cultural landmark in Shenyang, according to directors.

Since its opening, the park has received more than 10,000 visitors from around the world, officials said.
