Located in Northeast China’s Liaoning province, Shenyang is an ideal winter destination for visitors, offering a host of attractions. Here are some of the best places where visitors can enjoy winter in Shenyang.
1. Hunhe River west canyon
Located in Sujiatun district, the Hunhe River west canyon is an ecological scenic spot with a large water theme park. With its rich natural landscape, it is also a science popularization base and patriotic education platform for teenagers.
2. Changbai Island Forest Park
Located on the south bank of the Hunhe River, Changbai Island Forest Park covers an area of 42,000 square meters and charges no admission.
It has a zoological park with attractions including black swans, alpacas, peacocks and camels, making it an ideal place for children.
3. Beitang Hot Spring
Located in No 189 Hangzhou Road in Shenbei new district, Beitang Hot Spring is an ancient spring drawing water from 2,640 meters below ground and has been identified by the China Hot Spring Association as a spring offering medical and health benefits.
4. Qipanshan (Qipan Mountain) Ice and Snow World
Located in the Qipanshan (Qipan Mountain) scenic area which is 17 kilometers from downtown Shenyang, the Qipanshan Ice and Snow World is a hot tourist attraction in winter.
It annually hosts the Shenyang International Ice and Snow Festival, where people can enjoy ice and snow sculptures, and have fun with winter activities.
The Qipanshan Ice and Snow World is divided into the south area and the north area. The south area is an alpine skiing area and the north provides skating and other entertainment activities.
5. Northeastern Asia Skiing Resort
Shenyang Northeastern Asia Skiing Resort is a professional ski resort offering alpine skiing, aerial sightseeing and other entertainment activities. It has the longest and most beautiful ski trails in Shenyang, making it a tourist hotspot in winter.
