An intangible cultural heritage-themed activity kicked off at Jiuwu Culture City in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province on Nov 9, according to the organizers.
The event will run to Nov 24, they said.
Beijing, Xi’an, and Shenyang are hosting the activity -- which aims to provide an exchange platform for unique cultural items from the three cities and promote traditional culture to more people, especially the young, the organizers added.
More than 40 intangible cultural heritage items from the cities are on display at the activity, including sugar figures, straw plaiting and dough figurines.
In addition to exhibition, visitors also have opportunities to try their hands at making cultural items.
It is the second year that the activity has been held. The organizers said that for the event, cultural and creative products will be designed, to promote protection of intangible cultural heritage and encourage innovation.
During this year’s activity, there will also be a display of traditional Chinese clothes, traditional dance performances and dramas.
