Shenyang now has 31 state-protected cultural heritage sites

Four cultural and historical sites in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, were listed on the eighth batch of key cultural heritage sites under state protection.

They were announced on Oct 16, according to news from Shenyang cultural heritage administration.

The latest additions means that Shenyang is now home to 31 key cultural heritages under state protection, in the front rank of places in Northeast China, officials said.

With its long history, Shenyang boasts a large number of cultural heritage and historical buildings. It is features examples from a distinctive prehistoric culture, the early Qing (1644-1911) culture, the Republic of China (1912-1949) culture, the anti-war culture and the industrial culture.

The city is currently home to more than 1,500 non-removable cultural relics and artifacts under national, provincial, municipal and district protection.

Of these, 31 are under national protection, 74 under provincial protection and 161 under municipal protection.

In addition, according to the first national survey of movable cultural relics –– carried out between 2012 and 2016 –– the number of collected State-owned movable cultural relics in Shenyang reached 60,031 pieces, officials added.
