Expo for Shenyang marathon opens

An expo for the Shengjing Bank 2019 Shenyang International Marathon opened at the Shenyang Olympic Center in the capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province on Sept 2 -- as a promotional event for the marathon scheduled to take place on Sept 8.

The expo includes an exhibition area for the Shenyang marathon, an area for sponsors, an area for exhibiting and selling the products of sponsors -- and an area for handing out information to participants, where runners in this year’s event can get their materials on Sept 5- 7.

It is being held as a warm-up for this year’s marathon and to promote the marathon spirit to Shenyang’s people, according to Li Tong, deputy director of the Shenyang sports administration.

The expo will end on Sept 7, the day before this year’s marathon. People can visit the expo for free.

This year’s marathon will include a full marathon (42.195 kilometers), a half-marathon (21.0975 km), a 10-km run and a mini-marathon (around 4 km).

Around 20,000 runners are expected to take part in the event, with 3,500 doing the full marathon, 5,500 doing the half, 7,000 the mini and 4,000 the 10-km run, according to organizers.
