Construction starts on Shenyang Metro extension line

Construction work on the southern extension of Shenyang Metro Line 2 started in Shenyang, the capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Aug 28, and is expected to finish in 2024, according to local authorities.

The south extension line will start from Quanyun Road and end at Taoxian International Airport’s T3 terminal, stretching 14.2 kilometers.

All eight stations -- Shenben Avenue station, Gaoshen East Road station, Quanyun 3rd Road station, Citizen Square station, Science Park station, Aviation Industrial Park station, New Terminal station and Taoxian Airport station – are underground.

Following completion, Shenyang passengers can travel directly from Shenyang North Railway Station to the airport by metro, taking only 50 minutes.

In addition, construction work on Shenyang Metro Line 10 is expected to finish this year and put into service in 2020. Construction work on Shenyang Metro Line 4 has begun and line 3 will start construction later this year.
