The 5th Peace Cup International Juvenile Football Tournament kicked off at Northeastern University in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Aug 6.

This year’s tournament is hosted by the Shenyang municipal people’s government, the Heping district government, and the Shenyang sports administration and will expand in scale to include more players.

Over the years, the tournament has become a platform for cultural and athletic exchanges between the youth of China and other countries.

During the six-day event, more than 4,100 players divided into 220 teams — 20 of which are from foreign countries including the United States, Russia, Belarus, South Korea, and Japan – will take part in nearly 800 matches.

In addition, a variety of cultural exchange activities, including tours of the Shenyang Palace Museum, Marshal Zhang’s Mansion, and the Liaoning Science and Technology Museum, will be held during the event, allowing global youth to learn about Shenyang culture and experience the city.
