Shenyang forum shines spotlight on biomaterials, biotech

The 2019 international biomedical materials and biotechnology symposium was successfully held at the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, from July 14 to 17, offering visitors deep insights into the sector and its development potential.

The event – which was sponsored by the institute, Northeastern University and the Journal of Materials Science & Technology -- was attended by leading academics and experts from China, South Korea, Australia and the United States.

They exchanged points of view on the development opportunities and the latest trends in biomedical materials and discussed how to meet the challenges posed by the latest changes in technology. Keynote speeches were also presented on frontier research and the results of research and development into biomedical materials and biotechnology.

At the same time, insights during the seminars were offered on medical metal materials and additive manufacturing, nano medical materials, medical polymer materials and biomechanics.

The event offered an opportunity for research institutes, hospitals and companies focused on biomedical materials and biotechnology in Shenyang to communicate with experts and scholars from home and abroad. Organizers said it would boost in-depth cooperation between enterprises, universities and research institutes.
