Shenyang to build 135 exemplary villages

Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, plans to build 135 exemplary villages with pleasant living environment and beautiful natural environment by the end of this year, according to the city’s urban and rural construction department.

The city plans to improve 194.6 kilometers of roads and install 4,525 street lamps in villages. And by the end of 2020, the number of exemplary villages in the city is expected to hit 270, said the authority.

To achieve the goal, relevant departments need to improve their work in areas such as ensuring safety of drinking water in villages, constructing sewage treatment facilities, improving public toilets, and renovating roads.

Villagers are encouraged to participate in the construction and supervision of above-mentioned work, said a director of the city’s urban and rural construction department.
