Shenyang airport sees boost in May Day travel

Shenyang Taoxian International Airport in Shenyang, capital city of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, reported an increase in the number of flights and passengers during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 4.

Over the four days, the airport handled 1,520 flights and 211,386 passengers, representing year-on-year growth of 4.7 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively.

In addition, Shenyang Taoxian International Airport handled some 1,540 tons of cargo, a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent.

Officials said the most popular domestic destinations included Zhangjiajie in Hunan province, Qingdao in Shandong province and Xishuangbanna – off of which have superb natural landscape.

Also on the list of top choices for Shenyang travelers were Cheju in South Korea, and Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya in Japan.
