Shenyang holds Go cultural festival

The 2018 Shenyang International Go Cultural Festival opened at the No 2 Primary School in Erjing Street in Shenhe district of Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Aug 25. Aiming to popularize the game of Go and connect players around the world, the festival will run until Oct 21.

It was also the opening day of the first “Zhuyou Cup” National Children's Go Interscholastic Competition.

Hosted by the Chinese School Board Association, Liaoning sports industry group, and Shenyang sports department, the event aims to cultivate children’s love for the game of Go, popularize the knowledge of Go culture, and provide a platform for exchanges between children around the world.

A total of around 3,000 young players participated in the competition from places all over the world, including the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. They will go through seven rounds of competitions in the next few days.

During the cultural festival, a series of activities will be held, such as a summit forum on international education and development of Chinese Go, competitions of Go games, and related cultural exchange activities.
