Summer art festival opens in Shenyang

The fourth “Summer of Hunhe River” culture and art festival opened at Yunyang Pavilion in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, on May 26.

Activities including African drumming, singing and dancing were staged during the opening ceremony, attracting thousands of visitors.

Initiated in 2015, the festival has been held on three separate occasions, with art performances, cultural exhibitions, sports competitions, and other activities for residents taking place from May to September.

I attended the two previous opening ceremonies and I couldn’t miss this year’s, said one visitor, from the city’s Huanggu district.

In addition to visitors attending in person, the opening ceremony also attracted around 800,000 visitors on live streaming platforms.
