With a theme of controlling cancer through the latest technology and research, the 2018 Chinese Conference on Oncology (CCO) was held in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province from Aug 17 to 19.
The event was sponsored by China Anti-Cancer Association and organized by Liaoning Cancer Hospital & Institute and Liaoning Anti-Cancer Association. It was co-organized by the Union for International Cancer Control, the US Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and the Tumor Division of Chinese Medical Association.
The three-day event attracted participation of more than 17,000 professionals and scholars in the field of oncology from all over the world, including 527 hospital deans.
It included one main venue, eight venues covering different areas of oncology, and 77 parallel sessions, allowing scholars and experts to discuss every aspect of oncology, including basic research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and nursing.
For instance, experts discussed the latest research on common diseases such as lung cancer, breast cancer, stomach cancer, and liver cancer, and shared their experience and opinions on their prevention and treatment.
Also, frontier technologies, research, and methods of preventing and treating tumors were introduced during the event.
The Chinese Therioma Research Report (2017) was also released during the conference. The report summarizes the latest developments and problems in the world of oncology, with opinions and suggestions on how to develop oncology research in China.
Next year’s conference is set to take place in Chongqing.
