Piano master Lang Lang performs in hometown Shenyang

The second Shenyang Lang Lang International Piano Festival opened in the capital of Liaoning province on the evening of Aug 8.

Lang Lang, born in Shenyang in 1982, is a piano master with a huge international reputation. He attended the opening ceremony of the piano festival and staged performance with 160 specially selected children.

Hosted by Shenyang publicity department, the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, and the governments of Hunnan and Heping districts, the festival aims to promote the development of the city’s music sector, and promote the city’s profile.

On the afternoon of the opening, Lang Lang attended the unveiling ceremony for a sculpture named Window of Music at the Lang Lang Piano Plaza in the city’s Heping district. The plaza became the country’s first piano plaza when it was opened last year.

During the event, a series of activities will be held, including children’s piano performances, the opening ceremony of the Heping district’s piano association, and concerts.
