Free drinks offered to outdoor workers in Shenyang

Residents in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, have been suffering from summer heat recently.

A freezer full of free drinks left unattended on Chaoyang Street in the city seemed to help beat the heat.

The freezer is an initiative launched by Shenyang Evening News, Meijin chaffy dish and a social benefit platform of Alibaba, an e-commerce giant in China, with the aim of serving refreshing drinks to outdoor workers as they deal with the scorching heat.

Traffic police officers, sanitation workers and delivery people plus other outdoor workers can all take the complimentary drinks.
