Shenyang hosts international chorus festival

The second China Shenyang International Chorus Festival opened at the Shengjing Grand Theater in Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on July 25.

The event is hosted by the China Chorus Association and Shenyang municipal people’s government, with participation from more than 2,000 singers from 50 choirs, 42 of which are from China and eight from foreign countries such as Russia, Canada, Spain, Argentina and Thailand.

Choirs from Thailand, Hungary, Moscow and Canada staged performances at the opening ceremony, appealing to the audience with unique singing styles.

Ten choirs from China and foreign countries also jointly performed a chorus for visitors.

On the morning of July 25, a warm-up activity for the chorus festival was held at the Langlang Piano Plaza in the city’s Heping district, with six choirs from China and foreign countries performing for visitors.

The festival will conclude at the concert hall of the Shenyang Conservatory of Music on July 28.

During the festival, 12 major activities will take place, including charity performances, chorus training classes and special concerts.

Choirs from foreign countries will be invited to teach chorus skills to Chinese teams and and present topics for discussion regarding current international trends in choral development.
