Students around China are being encouraged to learn more about the national defense knowledge, with the Shenyang garrison command and Qingnian Street Primary School in Heping district, Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, leading the way.
The groups organized a military summer camp for students on July 20.
The activity aimed to enhance national defense education for pupils, and to mark the Army Day, which is celebrated on August 1 every year in commemoration of the founding of the People's Liberation Army in 1927.
Pupils visited the city’s national defense education center, learning about the history of wars that China experienced and survival stories from those times.
At the equipment and facilities exhibition hall, soldiers explained and demonstrated operations of wheeled vehicles and anti-aircraft guns, as well as how to pitch tents.
Students also learned to make beds (army style) and undertook various types of training during the activity.
