A Peking Opera named War in Shenyang was staged at Yunyang Pavilion in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on July 17.
The opera was performed by artists from the Shenyang performing arts group, and is based on a story about the people of Shenyang resisting invaders during the Liao Dynasty (916-1125).
A large number of residents viewed the opera, including some foreigners who were attracted by traditional Chinese culture.
The performance was a part of the fourth “Summer of Hunhe River” culture and art festival, which opened on May 26 and will last until September.
