Shenyang hosts 20th traditional music conference

The 20th conference of the Association of Traditional Music in China is underway in Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, from July 15 to 19.

Approximately 300 musicians and scholars from all over China will participate in the conference. The conference is hosted by the association, which was established in 1980, and undertaken by the Shenyang Conservatory of Music.

The biennial conference has grown to become an influential academic meeting, after being successfully held 19 times over the years.

The conference aims to contribute to the studies and promotion of traditional music.

With the theme of “continuity, evolution and sustainability of traditional music”, this year’s conference will entertain participants with two musical concerts.

Shenyang is hosting the conference for the second time, and the first was in 1984.
