A total of 300 clean energy buses are scheduled to start operations in Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, according to Xinhua News Agency. Around 173 of the vehicles are already serving the city’s bus routes.

The plans include upgrading 100 diesel buses, meaning that 75 percent of the city’s buses will now run on clean energy.

The new buses include all the standard facilities of public buses, including air conditioning, and security and safety equipment. However, the new vehicles are expected to have more comfortable seating and USB ports available for passengers.

By the end of 2018, Shenyang plans to have 900 new energy buses on its roads, with the remaining 600 coming into service over the coming months, said Wang Xinbo, a Shenyang transport official.
