The 2018 Northeast (Shenyang) Musical Instrument Culture Exhibition was held at Liaoning Industrial Exhibition Hall in Shenyang, Liaoning province, from June 15 to 18.
The event aimed to promote the development of the musical instrument industry and music culture in Northeast China, and to attract more investment from musical instrument companies around the world.
At the opening ceremony, Ji Huibin, dean of Shenyang Conservatory of Music, said that the exhibition is part of efforts to boost Liaoning's regional economy.
Universities will improve students’ industrial innovation ability and cultivate professionals, to help the development of companies, added Ji.
More than 100 companies from around the world exhibited their products at nearly 200 exhibition stands.
The event included four parts –– a display of musical instruments, lectures, music performances, and a demonstration of how to make different musical instruments.
Six experts delivered lectures at the event, including two professors from the China Conservatory of Music, and a professor from the school of music at Wisconsin University in the United States.
Performances with Chinese musical instruments, such as the guzheng (Chinese zither), and orchestral music were staged for visitors.
During the musical instrument-making demonstration, teachers and students from the music technology department of Shenyang Conservatory of Music made violins, guzheng and other musical instruments, telling visitors about the instruments’ history and manufacturing process.
