Intl fashion festival opens in Shenyang

The fourth Taiyuan Street International Fashion Festival opened on the popular Taiyuan Street in Heping district, Shenyang, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on June 10.

As one of China's best-known commercial pedestrian streets, Taiyuan Street is one of the most influential fashion hubs in Northeast China. Following the example of the Ginza shopping district in Tokyo, Japan, the business area was rebuilt in the early years of the 21st century.

Combining commerce, dining and recreation, the 3,950-meter-long street is dominated by comprehensive stores and supplemented by specialty shops.

During this year’s festival, dramas, dancing and symphonies will be staged for visitors, as well as activities featuring basketball, qipao (a traditional body-hugging, one-piece dress), music, Double Seventh Day (Chinese Valentine's Day), and food on Mid-Autumn Festival.

The festival will last until the winter in 2018, promoting not only traditional culture but also the development of related businesses in the city.
