Pingyao photos record changes through decades

A photography exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up was held during the 18th Pingyao international photography festival from Sept 19 to 25.

Divided into five parts, the 296 pictures photographed by Pingyao locals depict Pingyao's changes in civil life, economic development, and rural landscapes and tourism since China's reform and opening up in 1978, with a special focus on major local historic events like being named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
