Pingyao housing project brings major benefits to rural people

A reconstruction project for old housing in Pingyao county, Shanxi province handled by its housing, civil service, urban-rural development, and finance bureaus, has made life better for 600 rural households since last year, with a project quality check, on Jan 30, at several villages.

The housing project is expected to contribute a lot to rural people in their housing problems and the bureau committee is monitoring the situation to ensure that the housing meets national seismic safety and materials standards. One village official at the Xiangyuan construction site, Wu Xiaoguang, explained that they used to have 62 households in sub-standard housing, and in just the last year, all of the housing had been improved or reconstructed so all the families are iving in new residences.

Work on the 600 substandard houses in 13 villages was completed by this January and they will get a thorough examination by the committee and each household will get a subsidy from the government after moving into the new house, greatly improving the life quality of China's rural people.
