At the 8th National Aerospace Photography Exhibition, a photographer from the city of Datong, Shanxi province, claimed a 2nd Place prize, Datong Evening News reported, on Dec 1, for a shot, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, in Gansu province, with a magnificent view of the surrounding desert.

Zhang Xia, the award winner, did a series of photos of Chinese space projects in China as an employee of the Jinsui Aerospace Technology Co in Datong with strong interests in photography, painting, and commercial design. When he's not working at the company, he is secretary of the city arts association and vice-president of the Enterprise Photographers Association.

The exhibition, which is organized by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp, solicits submissions from people who work at aerospace enterprises around the country, and picks three 1st Place, six 2nd Place, and nine 3rd Place winners.
