A local opera from the city of Datong, Shanxi province, Daughter of the Nation, was a huge success when it hit the stage, in Taiyuan the provincial capital, Oct 15 - 16, to tells the story of a legendary female Communist, who did everything to help people survive the hardships of war in the first half of the last century.

The work was shown at the Taiyuan Youth Arts Center, where it attracted many popular figures from the arts in the province, as well as Cheng Guilan, a national artist and the director of the opera, who said the cast from Datong was extraordinarily professional and were busy creating other works for the audience.
