The 2012 Yungang Grottoes Tourism Festival will start on Sept 6 in the city of Datong. Highlights of the festival include the staging of the folk opera "Want to Kiss" and the opening of the Jinghuagong National Mineral Park.

The play "Want to Kiss" is one of the excellent folk operas in Datong. Many famous composers, dancers and stage designers are invited to participate in the play. The performers are all famous Datong actors. Since its premiere the play has drawn big audiences across the country.

After several performances, the players are more experienced in shaping characters and showing the characters' inner world. The Worker Recreation Center will put on the play at 8 pm from Sept 11 to 17.

The Jinghuagong National Mineral Park, the only one of its kind in Shanxi province, will open on Sept 7. The Yungang Grottoes lay next to the park, on the other bank of the river. The park has a long mining history, and the Jurassic coal seam, a geological wonder, was found there. The park covers a 360,000-square-meter area and consists of a Coal Mining Museum, an Exhibition Area of Industrial Sites, a Folk Custom Village and a special Underground Mine Tour.
