New energy industry zone

As a traditional energy zone, the local government has greatly promoted the integration of wind and light storage and output industrial chain by fully taking advantage of its rich light and wind resources. It has also utilizes industry’s link with financial institutes.

The city plans to build a large industrial base for the light and wind storage and output. It also introduces the high-end enterprises such as the Foxconn and the GCL-Poly, investing 100 billion yuan to build 100,000 tons of polysilicon and 6G solar cell modules.

At the same time, it makes full use of the light resource to build a 10 million kilowatts solar power plant, forming the world largest solar energy base.

Clean energy industrial zone

The zone aims to develop via its “science, green, low carbon” method. Its modern energy industrial system is featured by its security, stability, economy and cleanliness.

Now, it’s on the way to become a world-class modern energy demonstration zone, owing to the 10-billion-yuan ($15.7 billion) investment natural gas project by CNOOC.

Equipment manufacturing industrial zone

The zone is mainly for developing Datong’s car manufacture industry.

Several auto parts base will be built to manufacture auto gearboxes, engines and gears. The development of electric locomotives will be hastened for the benefit of high-speed railway equipment manufacturing industry.

The government will introduce advanced foreign brands and increase cooperation with Chinese and overseas high-end enterprises to boost its manufacture of coal equipment.

Modern medicine industry zone

It will be the largest pharmaceutical antibiotics base in China because of its cooperation with China Pharmaceutical Group.

It will develop technologies related to making solid and liquid preparations, and vaccines, and promote high-quality pharmaceutical companies to enter the capital market to raise funds and accelerate development.

Datong has made medicines that account for more than half of the province's output value.
