A Sino-German project for construction of a Shanxi demonstration tree farm for sustainable forest management was signed in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi province, Feb 18.
Sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Shanxi government, the project will invest 31.45 million yuan ($4.68 million) sponsoring German experts to work in China, forest management activities, drafting regulations, personnel training, monitoring and research, project summary as well as material and equipment purchases.
The project aims to develop Zhongcun forest farm in Zhongtiao Mountain into a demonstration site for sustainable forest management, technological training and forestry research over the course of three years.
Shanxi Zhongtiao Mountain State-owned Forestry Administration and German Forestry Service Co will be responsible for the tree farm construction and Shanxi Academy of Forestry Sciences will offer technical and expert support.
